buy new intake gasket's, pull the intake, and have it tested at a machine shop, and get them to fix any imprefection's.

You can use a long piece of vaccum hose to listen to the engine bay. As in buy 2ft of hose stick one end to your ear and move the other end around to find the sound.

if you can get to the crack, try covering it with something, like electrical tape, and see if that fix's it.

I have a plug on the back of my intake back itself out at the track and barley got it home it was poping and cracking, and backfiring into the intake.

get it fixed soon. Dont wanna screw anything up.

are both your cars daily drivers? if so nevermind, but if they haven't been run in a while or driven, try unplugging the battery for 5 minutes and plug it back in to reset the computer. I had surging idle, ran like crap, and falling on its face after 2500rpms, did that and it ran fine.

ok i will try that.

heres a update...i pulled a plug and its white. so i guess im running lean. also theres for sure a whistling leak. sounds coming from somewhere by or below upper intake manifold. im going to try and get on it over the weekend and hopefully figure something out. idk how to do a koer test. is there any other ways to test for leaks and codes, or possibly check the intake for a crack?

update...i did a koeo test. got a code 96. i also pulled the other plugs and the are all either white or a brownish white. so i guess its running lean and has a vac leak somewhere that i can still hear but havent located.

whats the deal with code 96? what should i look into

You're running lean because you have unmetered air entering the motor. Take a can of carb cleaner and spray around the intake and vacuum lines. Listen for a change in the idle.

ok so i pulled the intake off. while i had it off i put in 24lb injectors. made sure all vac lines were ok and fixed a couple. one of the intake bolts was a lil loose. so i got everything back together right now and it still sounds really rough. the gas pedal feels rough and not smooth, i think it may be because the throttle cable seems to be rubbing against something. but i let it idle for a few min for the computer to adjust and the idle is still surging up and down. the only imperfection on the intake manifold itself was on the lower intake, one of the holes where the bolt threads down is cracked off although the bolt still seems to thread through it. any ideas on what i should check out next?

did you change the maf with the 24's? if not you need to,, the maf sensor has to be calibrated for the type of injectors you run
