I just bought a 1990 5.0 GT last week and I'm not sure what is going on with my speedometer. I've read a few similar threads but none are doing what mine is. My speedometer is not reading at all, it moves while driving but bounces all over the place. And by bouncing I mean going from like 60 to 90 to 140 and back and forth. Any idea what exactly it could be? I was told it has 3.73 gears and the transmission is stock. Any help anyone could give me I would appreciate it very much.

could be a cable issue but sounds like a bad speedo head

Bad speedometer dude. The cable will not fix it. YOu have to get a new one most likely. Mine was doing the same. Swapped it out and now it works fine.

The needle just wobbles a little. Any reason why this happens?

i'd check the gear on the end of the cable first. a stripped gear will do the same thing.
