Question Battery Draining Problem

Some reason, something keeps killing my battery while the car is in the driveway.

Nothing is powered on.

Anyone have any ideas?

how old is the batt/alt?

disconnect the battery and hook up an amp-meter. It needs to be wired in series with the battery to work.

Now go to the fusebox and start pulling fuses one at a time. The normal current drain with the key off should be.1-.2 amps MAX. When you pull the fuse that is related to the current drain you will see the current on the meter drop to almost nothing. Now you have isolated what circuit is causing the problem it will make it easier to fix.

I had the same problem on my ranger last winter. Turned out to be a pressure switch for the ac system that was stuck and leaving the clutch for the ac compressor engauged.

The battery was brand new, and the alt is brand new as well.

The car doesn't have stock wiring, I used a 93 4 cyl wiring harness (just for the electronics)

And my IGN is hooked up to a 12v switch.

have you triple checked the connections to make sure that they are not loose or corroded? if they are all good then it is time to get the amp-meter out.

hook the multimeter in series to neg terminal and set multimeter to amps and current draw should be between 25-50 milliamps...if not pull fuses to narrow down the drain to a circuit
