Default Missing on cyl#2&3

I have an '87 t-top hatch that is missing on #2&3 (middle of left bank from front of car). I have moved the injectors from 1&4 to the 2&3 location, just to see if it was the injectors themselves, but same outcome. missing on 2&3.

next step would be moving plugs, then wires. you're on the right track.

only 3 possibilities left. plugs, wires, or cap.

i had the same problem and it was the cap, the points were messed up. pretty cheap fix. check the wires and make sure the wire goes through the boot.

Do a compression check on both cylinders.

I apologize for not mentioning, all new wires, cap, rotor, and plugs as they were my first guess. double checked the gap, because we all kknow they are never right, even with pre-gap. Still no luck, anyone think maybe the harness? how could i check the harness without shelling out for a noid?

Also, the car has been upgraded with the A9L box, not sure if that will help or not...

compression test is next. its rare to see 2 cylinders bonk out at the same time from a compression issue, but its possible.

Compression test told the tale. bad head gasket sharing the compression between #2&#3. oh boy. thanks for the help guys. now I just have to figure out which gaskets to use since the heads are gt40p and so is the intake. Any suggestions?

Fel Pro 1011's. There's a -1 and -2, one has a copper ring and is .039" compressed(I've been running that one for years with 0 issues) and the other is .041" compressed with a steel ring. If you ever plan on running boost or juice you could go with the steel ring for added safety, though there are people running the copper fire ring gaskets with juice/boost with no issues. Ultimately it's the tune that kills head gaskets, or just making crazy cylinder pressure for the type of gasket used.

Thanks 67, i will use the copper, i am not using, nor do i plan on any boost or nitrous, just a fun daily driver. the intake gasket would just be stock for the explorer, and i will have to look around for the header gaskets for the gt40p head setup. I do appreciate everyones help again. If there is any other info you think of, post it, i will be checking.
