is my car haunted????
so i have yet to figure out if its my battery, or alt that is going out cause the car always has a hard time starting. i let it run, or drive it for a few miles once a week. so today it went to start it and it was slow to start as always. i removed the key cause i was going to jump it, and it just kept trying to start, without a key in the ignition??????????? WTF..... I kno the car has its original alt, and the battery may be to. its one of those old school batterys that hold water. the battery was hot, and smoking a little during this event....

so... its trying to start without the key even being in?
ignition switch. replace. go.
$10.99 at your local autozone. part #LS514
There is also a wiring harness replacement available, they have a tendency to melt together at the connector and **** everything all up. I bet this is what has happened. Autozone also has that available, go to their website and search for 434. The first result that comes up is the Connector - Ignition Switch. Thats the pigtail you'll need.

Mine was doing that, it ended up being a crap starter and solenoid. (or so the mech said). I was at university and couldn't really work on it.
It was doing the same thing trying to crank over despite taking the ignition key out. I had to pull off the battery cable to get it to stop. Upon reattaching it kept going until the battery was drained.
I tried jumping it and melted a set of jumper cables and the battery power wire.
Long story short there are no such things as ghosts and no your car is not haunted.

first thing i'D do is have the battery tested, without 12 v present, meaning less due to a bad battery , selonoids and relays can start to do some odd things, it may all be due to a bad battery or faulty ground, start with the eay and go from there
