newbie problems with oil pressure and temp gauge
#11
thanks this thing has been crazy the guy who had it before me did some crazy stupid things as far as the wiring. most things are just spliced together and then wraped with electrical tape. so nothing surprises me....i took out the stock cluster thinking that each gauge would have its on connector but that wasnt the case, there was just 2 harness, so then i followed the line from the aftermarket oil gauge to the front of the motor and there is a black wire that is just sitting there.
im gonna pick up a clymer manual tomorrow you think that will help??

Never heard of that manual before but anything can help. That wire you are talking about sounds like the one you might have to use. Order a new oil pressure sending unit for the 94 GT and connect that wire to it and you should be good to go on that part of it.
Was the connector for the aftermarket temp gauge in the front or back of the intake?

Look at the left side of this pic(the front of the motor) and you see the long piece comming out of the block with the brass fitting? You will not have that long piece but that is the hole your oil pressure sending unit goes into. As for your temp sending unit I am not completely sure if its the front or the back that runs to the gauge at the moment. Try doing some research and see what you can find. I have to get to work.

ok well ive fixed the stock oil pressure and the temp....well the temp is acting up, the first time i started the car after hooking everything up it was all the way on the left (cold) and i went for a 10 min drive and it only made it to the right before N and thats where it stoped....but when i turned off the car the meter went all the way to the right compleatly past hot, so then i started it up again and it went back to the left side....any ideas???

Shouldn't be a big deal. Just keep an eye on things. If you want a complete aftermarket gauge setup look at www.florida50.com
