Default Is the 302 a good weapon of choice?

I've always been a honda guy, yes!!!I used to be that guy with the V8 KILLER Sign on he's rear window, but after years of braking motors and putting them back together I figured it was time to build something else.

So I'm on the quest to buy a 91 5.0 stang and rock the stock motor while I put a lil something together,so I was thinking hey why not get the same 302 and build it from scratch.Remember as a Honda guy I do not have any idea of what parts and combinations will get me closer to 350+whp all motor. This will be dd and a weekend warrior,Now my question is.Can this be done with this size motor without getting into the FI zone?Eventually If the motor takes it,Im planning on spraying a 150shot.

Now is there any other motor that can be fitted in this car without any mods required for it to fit?If so which one would it be.

If someone could guide me into the right path it will much appreciated.

I would recommend a 347 which is a 302 that has been bored and stroked to 347ci. With aftermarket heads, cam, and intake you can easy get your 350+ rwhp.

The first step to a cure is admitting your problem...haha. But like he said, a 302 stroked to a 347 with a decent head, cam, intake combo will get you your 350+hp you want.

Yup, 347. Don't forget the trans, chassis and suspension mods needed to support it though. A dd 347 build on pump gas with sticky tires can run 11's all day long.

Another option would be a 351W based motor, a well built 347 is a nice piece to be sure but they can put down a bit more than 350 rwhp, add a 150 shot to that on a stock block and you are getting into the roll the dice area on block survival. So either step up to a 351 or buy a better 302 block such as a B50 sportsman, a mexican, or an SHP.

some guys run the stock T-5 if it's manual, but you have to know how to drive and select a clutch and tire that won't shock load the trans. I prefer a beefier trans that can be flogged myself, since it gives you some error room. AdderMk2 would know what to select better than I though, he's got many passes on the stock T-5 with a 347. Suspension, you're gonna want to look at control arms/bushings, and possibly a watts link or panhard rod. Make sure to check out the rear end too, a stock worn out LSD diff won't last long. Then there's subframe connectors at least for the chassis, depending on how much power you build you may or may not want/need a roll cage(if you go fast enough NHRA requires a bar, then a cage etc.).

If you do a 70MM throttle body,Vortech 10PSI kit,and a Holley Systemmax intake you'll be at or over 350-360HP

Vortech says that the 8-10PSI kit on a stock 5.0 will put 360 to the wheels.
