Default changing starter question

I've got a 93 hatchback, and i got to change the starter, i made an attempt tonight, but can't get a wrench or socket in there with any room to turn. I'm assuming it'd probably be best to unhook the H-pipe from the headers and get them out of the way to make for some room to get to the top bolt... would this be correct? or is there a better way, and help much appreciated, thanks.

i took off the exhaust, passenger tire, and for the starter a 12" extension with two 3" extensions and a universal joint through the suspension (with air tools) it took like 4 hours lol(working on and off)

swivel and socket, or just use a short wrench! using any of these only takes me about 5min tops. No need to drop exhaust. 2 foot sounds good if you have it!

A 93 should have a mini starter. That's pie with a long extension and swivel socket.

Note swivel socket is not the same as a universal and a socket.

If you have skinny arms, it can be reached from up top. It looks impossible but my son snaked his arm down there and got it for me.
