I think I broke a spring.

I think I broke a spring.
I was testing my new clutch out and I revved up to 6k rpm and when I slowed down I heard a clunk, and there was a loud ticking. so I drove it really slow home, not revving past 1100.
?now I have to take it apart again.
I am glad I put helicoils in my lower intake
and if I drive it to my work to fix it would I **** it up?

RE: I think I broke a spring.
i don't rev mine past 5600 hundred. no reason to with stock heads and intake. it quits making power after about 4900-5300...
i would not drive it with something serious like that.

you better hope its a spring and not a lifter or cam that
might have gotten crunched by a lifter turning sideways

A lifter turning sideways???????? Never heard that before!A lifter or cam cant get crunched by anything the only thing that will get crunched is a valve if you float a lifter and the valve hits the piston. What does the heli coils have to do with anything??I'd bet you floated a valve revving it that high and lost a rocker arm, take off the valve cover and check it out

RE: I think I broke a spring.
I checked under the valve cover, and all the rockers were tight and the springs look okay, all the valve locks are there, and nothing looks broken.
I am lost now.
I miss driving my car and its only been 2 days.
and the only way a lifter can turn sideways is if the x thing holding them straight comes off, but it is held on with the retainer plate, so it would happen to all the lifters then.
