3000 rpm Misfire?

3000 rpm Misfire?
wont get past 3500 because of a misfiring sound. new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, Cold air intake. smog pump delete pulley. and the purge flow solenoid is dead. 144,000 miles
would a new coil be a good place to start?

when were the tune up parts installed? recently in hopes to correct this problem????......also do you have Cats on the car??? if so possible plugged convertor.... COULD BE the reason why your smog tubing split/burnt up = hot exhaust gases building up/backfeeding, if you were the one posting about the emissions issue??

the parts were put in very recently. yes to fix the problems. but they seem to have made it worse. and i cut the cats off yesterday one was broken and clogged so i gutted both the front cats out and cut the rear cats of and put the front cats back on for the o2 sensors. so the exhaust is open now.

did u use platinum plugs ??? if so dump them off for cheap coppers.
also try this... close the gap to about .035" on all of them, if it fixes the problem then it is probably spark related. and yes a coil would be the first place i'd go. not an accell though.. use a mallory as first choice or maybe an msd as second
if it does NOT fix it... it is most likely fuel related... then i'd hook up a FP guage to the schrader valve on the fuel rail and run it out of the hood and temp mount to the wiper or something... get on it and see if the FP jumps around, is low or whatever. at wot it should be at about 35-40 psi pretty steady
usually the ignition mod on the dizzy works or does not work, so i wouldn't replace that yet
FYI, even on NA cars i gap my plugs about .048-.050" never all the way to .052" like it says to
spraying 80-100 i gap at .042"
