Tach went out

Tach went out
My tach just seems to be messing up all of a sudden. Now even when I'm at idle it is sitting at about 2,500rpm, but once I get past 2,500 while driving it will go up normally. Should I just replace it with a cluster gauge (not sure if thats what thier called, the ones that sit on your pillar or dash), or try to fix/replace the stock one? Plus if you think it should be replaced with the non stock ones, then what would you recommend?
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Tach went out
If you did have an additional cluster too swap out the one thats in your car now you could atleast elimanate the cluster as the problem. If you swap it and its still screw up you know its not the tach. What kinda car is it and what year?

RE: Tach went out
Its a 91 GT. I don't have an extra one, but can get one pretty cheap, so i'll probably try that sometime soon. It drives fine, its just annoying having it display 2,500rpm when i'm really at like 800-1000rpm.
