Default engine casting numbers, help quick plz

gonna go look at a 302 longblock today, supposedly an 85 motor. from my understanding, these are roller blocks. what casting numbers should it have? what casting numbers will it have if it is not a roller block? he's selling it real cheap so i gotta jump on this

k so i bought it, longblock minus an intake. roller motor, nice shape internally. the heads are pretty rust-tastic but they're becoming door stops anyway, so idc. he said it had 75k on the clock, and i believe him. i just yanked the cam and the pan, very very clean.

i decided to scrap the 351 build i had planned.. just too much power for what i'm going to be using the car for. daily driving around here includes alot of stopping. i'm going to go with a stroker based on the 302, but i'm undecided yet.

so, anyway, i grabbed this motor AND the stand it was on, for $75. casting number on the block is E5AE, and according to the decoder i have, it came out of a 1985 Maverick
maybe someone has a better decoder?

it is a roller block, i just spent an hour and a pint of blood disassembling down to the block. now i gotta find my micrometer and see if its been touched at all. i see two R's stamped into the oil pan gasket surface, i dunno if thats factory or if machine shops do it to designate a rebuild? so im gonna mic it and send it to my shop for cleaning/flux/bore.. all that jaz.

i did some surfing on other ford forums and i guess E5AE is the correct casting # for 1985 rollers.

honestly matt, i wish I hadnt gone the stroker route with my car. Its almost undriveable...

then again, I was kinda a dick about my parts selection....

If I could start again, i would go turbo... hands down.

lol I know what you mean, mine is drivable just has a few annoying quirks such as low rpm surge/trail hitching, but the although cool sounding rough idle is neat and gets lots of compliments, it get old, now I'm debating a cage, when you go faster the creature comforts of a street car on these old 5.o's goes
