If I do heads...

RE: If I do heads...
exactly like grey fox says "if your not having problems now, you wont have any with the new heads" period. to put rings in you have to pull the motor, to put heads on you dont, so if your going to do rings might as well do it all, especially with 120,000 miles. i say throw the heads on and when the time comes pull the motor and do the rebuild/stroker whichever.

I'm not siding with fast fox because I strongly disagree with this because the raised compression with worn rings would cause you too burn oil.

aftermarket heads won't increase compression unless you have them milled.

I know that I have to tear everything down to do them i've rebuilt two 350s. And there will be a slight compression raise on a car with that many miles and original heads. I'll show him this post.

actually some manufacturers do offer 58cc heads, so that would definately raise the compression ratio. also if you have a cam with alot of overlap it will lower the static compression ratio due to bleed off during the overlap, all things you need to consider. i still say get the heads, and chunk them on.

since youre on a budget rock some stockers that have been ported and milled some, good springs, then get some larger valves put in them. figure about 500 bucks into them and youre set for now

$500 bucks in a set of heads wont get him any performance. a good port and polish is atleast $800 plus valves springs, retainers, and labor. i say go with some gt40cast iron, or some thumpers, the thumpers flow alot better than stock gt40s but cost a little more, i think around $800.
