347 help?

I'm planning to build a 347 stroker in the next few weeks and I need some help deciding what I should do as far as heads, cam, pistons (forged or alumi?). I've decided to go with forged rods because I want the option of boosting it later (unless someone can convince me of why I should not). Any help? :icon_shrug:

boost on a well built 347 stroker will result in a failed block... so decide now how much HP you want to make.

if you want to make BIG numbers, get an aftermarket block

as stated define your goal first then budget

you need to know what your going to do in the end. if you wanna boost the motor your going to HAVE to go with forged pistons to be built strong. and you should keep the compression around 9:1. but if you do that and then never boost it then you lost potential power. also a stock block ,as stated before, will not last. my engine builder said that a stock block can be very risky after 450 horse. they tend to split when boosted. as for heads, AFR 205s, trick flow, or maybe if your tight on cash eldlbrock aluminum heads. i have world products windsor jr heads on my 347 and i feel that they are choking it a little bit even tho they have 180 cc int runners. i make good power and can spin all day long. but that does not mean i could not make more. i should have saved my money for longer and got the best heads. oh and forged pistons under 11:1 compression are expensive. good luck running on pump gas with that compression

just pick up a 351 W get the parts to install it and be done with it 1/2 more stroke and a much better block then the 302. No need for a stroker kit, good pistons and a good rods and S/C and be done with it. you can unload the 302 easy enough. you wont be sorry you did it in the end. IMO... if I had to do it all over again thats what I would do and am gone to on my other car and i have a dart block already .. But I don't think I am gone to stay with the 351 CID

I think I'm going with some AFR'S forged pistons custom cam and Victor Jr. intake got the YSI supercharger and I have a SVO block which I just bought the main support system for my 347 and going to tune it and let it go....

just make sure you invest in a girdle for lower end, my friend had to rebuild his engine 3 times, he didnt build engine, he threw rods ever time and disintegrated a JE piston the last =(.
hes got a Girdle now so far so good, not an expert on 347s but im assuming the girdle insures no cap walk, or cap cavitation leading to those detrimental discloses =(

IMO
AFr 185c
bbk longtubes
trickflow uppper and lower with a mahogany spacer i think its that type of wood not sure
c&l intake elbow
3.73ratio
aluminum flywheel God i love mine
if i remember correctly my friend said he had 370rwhp but then again i never saw papers
