Unhappy Has anyones car remained on WOT while driving?

happened to me 3 times already, while im driving and get a pretty good stretch i press the pedal to the metal and it has stayed stuck on me and it wont let off, the pedal stays down and my car keeps on accelerating, the only way to stop this is to turn off the motor and bring my car to a stop, i keep kicking the pedal down until it loosens , then i can turn the car on, and make my way...what could i look for to correct the problem while in WOT??... thanks in advance....i have an 88 lx 5.0 aod with 3:73 gears

first check your carpet, then replace the cable.

I'd also suggest not driving it until you fix that.....Pretty dangerous.

Have you added a new t/b recently? From under the hood w/ the engine off, manually push it to wot and see if you can get it to stick. If you can, remove the cable and do it again. See if it still sticks. That will point you in the right direction of the fix.

Toyota just recalled millions of vehicles for this because of the floor mats catching the pedal.

Try to get it to get stuck with the engine off. If it does, have a look around. Maybe disconnect the throttle cable to the throttle body to see if it's the throttle body itself or cable/pedal related.
