Just noticed you are installing headers too. Still a simple install, little more tricky with the tight working space. The dipstick is held by a bracket that bolts on to one of the header bolts, just install it the way it came off. I would suggest getting some locking header bolts, this way they will not back out once installed. I believe they are made by Percy's.

No. Although, you may be able to just rotate it out of the way. Can't remember if I pulled it or not, when I did mine. When you get in there and start to remove stuff you'll see, it will all make sense.

we pulled the dipstick tube out. No oil will come out, however make sure when you reinstall that the tube gets pushed in all the way so your oil level readings wont be off. The motor lift plates will have to be removed, and wont reinstall with the new bolts. Finally there is a smog line on the passenger side that is held onto the block with a header bolt. This too wont reinstall. We used s metal locking tab to hold it gently to another smog line that runs parallel just to keep the bracket from tapping on the side of the block, plug, or spark plug wire. If you opt to do this dont secure it to tight or the locking tab might run through the rubber smog line. Passenger side is a tight fit with the throttle body to slide the headers down in, sometimes best to remove the throttle body for ease of install, driver side can be tight with the steering shaft coming through, but youll be able to weasel past it. TRUST me its not nearly as hard as headers on a 4.6 (thinking you might have done them already, or heard stories).

-how come the motor lift plate, and smog pump wont reinstall with the new bolts?
-would i be able to just reinstall with the original header bolts?
-proably a dumb question but would it be a bad idea to install the new headers with the original header bolts since those are the ones that have been on the car for over 20 years?

I used the bolts that came with it. And it wont reinstall because I think they dont wrap around the header correctly anymore(dont quote me on that I dont remember), I did not problems with the smog pump that they are talking about, It comes within half an inch thats enough room. But we and you are really over thinking this really simple job. Just do it, take your time and unhook/hook everything back up in the right spot.
