Default i've got an odd cutting out problem...

alright well on my sn i've got this cutting out issue thats aggravating me beyond belief... it'll run like a raped ape through first and then i slam second and it cuts in and out really fast and the rpms will completely drop off till i let off the pedal all the way... as of right now i dont know wtf would cause this... this is the kinda stuff that i despise about efi.... i'm more tempted now to go carb

pop your distributor cap off and take a look inside. see if you can pull the rotor and shaft straight up or if it wiggles at all, also look got metallic shavings in the disty housing

well the plugs were replaced in march when i did the HCI. the cap isnt too old, the rotor had the be replaced cause my dizzy went bad and was throwing rotors? i replaced the dizzy and it's been good since, that was maybe late march early april.
i think it's the pcm cutting my fuel... the ect says i'm over normal when it does it. maybe have a blown head gasket? on pay day i'll see about the litmus paper test on my coolant

I had a similar problem, but mine cut out in first gear. It turned out that the metal tab on the distributor rotor lost its tension and wore away at the button on the dizzy cap(cap and rotor were 6 mo old). Once i put a new rotor on, it was back to normal.

you need to have a fuel pressure gauge on it and watch the tac to see if it drops out to 0 real quick when issue occurs or just before, this way you can narrow it to fuel or spark issue
