Default head noise?

I can hear some type of clattering coming from my heads on my 87mustang. They are e7 heads. How tight should i torque my valves? Does that torque number stay the same no matter what cam it has in it?

well, you torque the rockers and it should be 20ftlb. but you gotta do them in the right sequence. also make sure ur lifters are still good

this was fun

there is no sequence for stock pedastal mount rockers on stock e7 heads, just bolt them down

actually you want to do it when the lifter is all the way down when there is the least pressure from the spring

like I said it does not matter, I can't tell you how many times I've started at the no 1 cyl or the no 4 and just went across the head, believe what you want but your wasting your time with stock pedastals using the methood that is recommended for roller rockers........ it is only critical for roller rocker set ups to make sure the roller is on the base circle to set proper preload.

i had a buddy that had head noise to and he had the roller rockers on his kind of a knock and when he took it to gainsville they would laugh and tell him that there was something wrong with his motor, and then he would run 11.21's and no one could finger it out, whoops figure, the oil baffle inside the valve covers was being hit by the rollers some slight mod to the valve cover and away went the noise, but man was it hilarious to see. just an idea I would port the e7 if ya keep em but if ya dont and don 't want to spend alot find a set of 351 w heads they are about the same as ported e7's I agree with the tightening that is what I did with mine.runs fine
