What oil weight and pump does it have? Stock pump with like a 10-30 should only be around 10psi at idle hot, heavy oil like 20-50 and it might be at 20psi hot. A high volume pump will create more pressure starting at a lower rpm. Mine idles with 10-30 at around 30psi hot, if you have a HV pump and run 20-50 then I could see it being 40psi at idle hot.

mine idles at 15psi hot no problem. ive heard you really only need 10psi per 1000rpms

n/a yeah, but blower applications that boost at low rpm(roots/screw, turbo etc) it's advised to run an HV pump to make sure you have enough pressure at lower rpm to deal with the increased load. Otherwise 10psi per 1,000rpm is fine. Flow volume is more important than pressure, in operation the dynamics of a bearing create an oil wedge that can be thousands of psi in a small portion of the bearing, you just need to make sure you have enough volume to continue to feed the wedge. Pressure is an indirect way of measuring flow volume(provided the bearing clearances are good).
