Default valvetrain noise

I still have valvetrain noise. i set the adjustable rockers as specified by my cam manufacturer. it sounds like their too tight because you can hear popping through the exhaust though there is still noise from the rockers

I tightenend the rocker till I didn't have any play up and down in the pushrod(not the twist the pushrod method) and then turned another 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn and locked it down. they are harland sharp rollers

heads are afr 185, I used the pushrods that came with the heads (used) I believe 6.825??? I did soak the lifters in oil before assembly. they were used out of the old 306. cam is an anderson ford motorsport n41, a little on the small size but was picked when i had gt 40's on it.

I'm sorry it is 6.4's it is a roller engine, when cold it doesn't make noise, but when warmed up it starts to tick. when you drive it around for a while it really makes a lot of noise

when you check for the correct length pushrod with the tool, do you need the mock up rocker arm or can you use the real rocker arm?
