the crank controls the stroke, if you look at different crank specs, they'll ask you for example: 5.0L(3.0 or 3.4) if you were going to buy a new one, this in turn will cause for adjustments to connecting rod sizes also.

351 W and 302 internal engine parts are not the same not the pistons, rods or crank the piston pins are the same but the is about it.and the cams will only work if it is a roller block or you buy you buy the special parts to use them unless you are gone to run a flat tappet cam.The 351W is a much better block as far as strength they will take 700HP even more in some cases without to much problem as far as that goes everything is just better about the 351 over the 302.. While pistons dont change stroke the pin hight does change and that is what makes the 351 and 302 pistons different. now they do make a stroker kit that uses 302 pistons and stock 351 rods and a aftermarket crank with a .030 bore it make 383 CID
