Default AOD & Starter Removal with Long Tubes

I am doing my AOD to T5 swap and having some problems. The car is a 93 lx with long tubes. I am having a hard time getting to the top starter bolt with the long tubes. Do the headers need to come out to get the starter out? Do the headers need to come out to remove the AOD? Any suggestions?

Also, I am trying to maintain the transmission cooler lines, is it possible to get these out without damaging them?
Thanks

you have to take out the passenger side header but not completely..you can just let it hang unbolted from the head...i just had to replace my starter a couple weeks ago and there was no working around it..

just jack the motor up and get the headers out of the way, you'll be glad you did = will make the install go smoother

I finally got the AOD out with about 2 hours and swearing at the passenger side header. I finally ended up unbolting the passenger side motor mount and lifting one side of the engine. I think you are right I should unbolt the other motor mount and pull the passenger side header out before I go to install the T5.
