I just bought a 85 mustang 5.0 and i noticed the brake pedal goes all the way to the bottom and it berly wants to stop. What can be the problem? I got the car for cheap so I still dont regret buying it. Any help is appreciated.

Ive looked for leaks all over the car. I was going to bleed them but I heard it might be the brake cylinder?

misadjusted rear brakes will cause this, and is the easiest to check/fix.

i would try bleedin them first, its allot cheaper than a brake cylinder and its a good way to check before you go spendin your money

What would cause the brake pedal to sinl all the way down? Would it be the brake master cylinder or the brake booster? We took the car on a test drive and it had no brakes what so ever.

air in the brake lines would cause this

would also cause the car to have no breaks whatsoever

I don't understand why everyone here is so sure he has air in the lines. If he didn't take them apart recently and has no leaks, the chance of having air in the lines is almost 0%.

Also, as far as the pedal goes... when it sinks all the way down, is there a bit of pressure in the pedal as it goes down, but doesn't seem to do anything, OR does it just drop to the floor with no resistance whatsoever?

The answer to that question is vital in determining between various problems you could have.
