Default Brake pedal switch hitting cross brace...help

I'm having an issue with my brake pedal assembly, more specifically the brake switch. I connected the switch and brake booster to the brake pedal arm. As soon as I push in the pedal and release it, the brake switch becomes sandwiched between the steering shaft support bracket and the brake arm. I'm not positive, but I don't think the switch should be resting against the support brace. Unfortunately, I can't see how to fix it. I've tried rotating the booster arm 180*, but then it doesn't connect to the brake pedal arm. Any help is appreciated.

BTW...the brake booster is from a '00 v6.
