It can happen. Bernie has a stock cam and heads in his notch and is making pretty good power. That is also with the procharger pushing too

Well I plan to put a b303 cam lifters 1.7 rockers aluminum heads trick flow intake and headers

I would get a more modern split duration cam like a Trickflow or CompCams.

^^^^lobe profile sucks on letter cams............the exhaust side on a sbf needs either more lift and or duration to exhale exhaust gases efficiently during the cycle.
