Rechargin the AC

Rechargin the AC
Hey guys my AC has been running pretty warm here lately, actually it hasn't ran really cold since I purchased it. Does a 91 5.0 use the old type or new type of refrigerant? Can I recharge this SOB at home or should I take it to a pro and have them do it? If I do take it to a pro how much you think that they would charge? $50.00?

well, ur 91 could surely use r-12 (old style), but somebody may have already does the r-134 conversion kit. its an easy swap, just some fittings i think. and if you car IS set up with r-12, then i'd recommend doing the conversion or having it done, and THEN recharged.
r-12 cools better, but its a LOT more expensive to charge. r-134 for me. good luck. i couldn't tell u a price for the conversion or labor to fill it, but 134 is much cheaper than 12 for a fact!

Ya I know it, but driving 60-70 mph everyday with the top down on dirt roads for 25 miles to get to the nearest town tends to get the interior a little dirty lol, I just got my top fixed! The modifications start now .
