As some of u know i just got my stang,so im kinda new to this s**t.well heres the deal my car at 70 mph is at like 2500 rpms in 5th.Do u think the guy before me put gears in her or does she do that stock?????I would appreciate all your help.....chris</P>

also above eighty five mph my car shakes violently why would it do such a thing?any help would me much appreciated.

shaking could be from a few things
wheels not balanced
tranny not aligned properly with the rear end.
ds is out of balance.
some wrong in rear end. may be there is gears installed wrong

here is a way to check mark you tire and mark your ds. both at 12 o'clock. spin the wheel by hand and count how many times the ds turns until you hit 12 o'clock again with the tire. take in account the overall size of your tires. factory size is 26inchs.
this is a close way of telling. on a 273 car you should be a little lower. you might have 355s or you jsut pull the cover and cut the teeth.

I'd say 3:73's if it real close to 2500rpm or 3:55's if it slighty lower, say around 2300-2400. I run around 2000rpm @ ~75mph w/ stock 3:08's. </P>


As far as the shake, start w/ wheels &amp; tires (balancing/condition/alignment),then check for worn suspension components. </P>

well here's another idea for you to check and see what gears you have....pull the speedometer gear out of the tranny and check the color and inspect the teeth on it....ford color codes speedometer gears for the appropriate gear ratios that you want...mine has 4:10's in it i forget what color speedo gear mine has its been awhile since i installed them...however, its only going to help you if the last dude had enough of a brain to change the speedo gear when upgrading the gears....if you pull it out and it looks like its chewed to shreds, obviously not...hope this helps, luv jenna
