Has anyone done this? I have done it on my 87 vert, but the wiring is a bit different on my 83. Any help would be great...

im not familiar with capris but i can say that the "kit" i bought for my install basically was designed so you could put the 3g alt into any car. it was just a plug/harness that hooked into the startor connector and the other 3 or 4 pin connector, cant remember, and that was connected to a 12v switched source. then you just had to run a wire from the battery to the terminal on the back of the alt.

basically made the 3g a 2 wire hook up

you need to eliminate the external voltage regulator for one, mine was on the fenderwell on my 85, I went with a one wire powermaster self exciting alternator and it worked well

I already have the 3g alt and plug for it. I was just wondering how to use the factory reg harness to hook onto the 3g harness.

This is what I have figured out.
4AWG from B+ post on alt to Batt + side of solinoid.
"A" from reg to "A" on 3G
"S" & "F" wires from reg to "I" on 3G
Stator wire on on 3G to "S" on 3G

The 3 wires on the reg are A,S,F and on the 3G are A,S,I...
Is this correct??
