Timing Spout kills engine

Timing Spout kills engine
Guys,
I did a pretty lengthy search but with no results, Car ran good in warm weather when we bought it, wouldnt start when it got cold, until we removed the timing shunt. Now the car
runs good without the timing spout , but dies when when put back in. We bought a new
MSD distributor and no luck same thing. We initially thought the stator was bad , hearing this from a very repetable mechanic, so we said time for an igntion /distributor upgrade. Getting ready to put the Msd Igniton box on tommorrow, although I dont think that is going to solve the problem.
Any ideas guys?
It appears it previously had an MSD Ignition on it (previous owner probably removed before
selling car , although he left 100hp Nitrous shot on it)
