Engine swap balancer/flywheel question.

Engine swap balancer/flywheel question.
I curently have a 1970 based 302 automatic. Im dropping in a 1989 based 302 manual motor in. Can i just replace the flywheel on the newer motor with the flexplate from the older motor, or will that throw off the balance of the crankshaft?

Flywheels have a machined surface for the clutch to come in contact with. Flexplates do not.
Flexplates are only necessary to provide a bolting location for the torque converter and therefore do not have the smooth, machined surface.

im pretty sure the older motor had a 28 oz imbalance. which means the flexplate you have would be incorrect. you need to buy one with a 50 oz imbalance

Ok I just wanted to check, a mechanic told me not to re use the older balancer/crank pulley. But as long as im fine swapping all my v-belt pullies over and the balancer over to the new motor with the new 50oz flexplate thats what im gonna do

YOU MUST USE THE BALANCER THAT IS ALREADY ON YOUR 89 MOTOR
