Default 5.0 Firing problems.

We had the 5.0 Mustang running last night. But not on all 8cly. I changed out all the sparkpulgs, Module,Coil. Made sure all the wires are correctly in place. And set the timing at 10*. The car fired up great. And knocked and smoked quite a bit. THis morning, I tried starting the car and it won't fire up. I have spark and the distrubiter was never moved. I acts like it wants to hit.

Also, I felt the individual cly. to see if they were hot. Some times only about 4 were hot and the ones that were hot were cold and the ones that were cold were hot....Im at a loss here.

Could it be the distrubiter??

MSD is not my favorite company. But you should at least be able to get it to start. Go through the check list and find the problem before buying new parts.

Find TDC. Disconnect the coil wire. With the #1 plug out, place your finger over the hole. Bump the engine until you can feel the compression under your finger. Set the timing marks on the 10* mark. Pop off the cap, and see if the rotor is pointing at the #1 terminal post. If not, you didn't install the distributer correctly.

While you have the cap off, bump the engine again, and make sure the rotor turns. If not, the pin is probably sheared on the distributer gear.

Do you get oil pressure while cranking?
