Default no reverse

well in a fit of rage i dumped reverse and bang! went nowhere. now i have no reverse. the trans feels like its going into reverse but as i let out the clutch it begins to chatter and grind. it was a dumb move especially since it was just rebuilt but ive heard that most t-5 rebuilds do not include reverse. is this true? what do you think is the problem? is it something i could do myself having just about zero practice with transmissions? if not, what might i be paying a shop to fix this? thanks in advance for any help

Normal rebuild kits do not include any gears. You have to purchase those separately. A lemon law wouldn't help anyway because it was your fault.

there is one of many places to purchase parts.

I don't think the gear would be the problem if his first gear still works. Considering reverse and first gear are the same gear...

Try some anger management. Rage may be more expensive than transmission. I been locked up with a bunch of people that lost control. T-5 is easy rebuild. Pull it out and have a go at it. Problems should be obvious.

Just make sure you lay the pieces out in the proper orientation... don't flip any parts around or you'll shoot yourself in the foot.

you can't be serious?????????/ you think a shop is dumb??? no way in heck a shop is or will be legally responsible for a customers irresponsible choice, first thing I'd say when I tore the tranny apart and saw an exploded gear, which by the way i'm sure he blew the reverse idler to pieces.....upon seeing that, read my words......NO warranty!!! any shop seeing such would clearly know what happened, ...when we ran a used car lot with our shop back in the day , we sold many 5.0's and more than one came back with exploded trannies, and the poor saps would always try the warranty path........never worked though once we handed them back pieces of tranny gear....nice try though..lol
