The TFI module can be checked at most autoparts stores if you dont know how to test them yourself. There is some posts on this board on TFI and PIP testing
yeah... woops.. re-read the message and I misread the post I saw "8cylinders shutdown at once... ...ignition problems" must have been thinking about something else.. yeah coils do not cause backfiring.. my bad.
i popped off the cap and the diode has a good amount of wear on it so that's definitely going to have to be replaced.

the check engine light isn't on.
as for the tfi module... i did some searching and couldn't find any resources on here... maybe i didn't look in the right place (new to this site).
