gt-40 performance questions for new member

RE: gt-40 performance questions for new member
Hmmmm, it seems that this motor keeps getting mentioned over and over again.
90fiveoh - does this look familiar???
To make the 345hp that FMS claims, you need to read the fine print...Cobra or GT40 intake, 65mm Throttle Body at a minimum and Headers. I purchased the Cobra Intake w/65mm Throttle Body and BBK Chrome Headers..I would wager I was making their claimed 345hp as I was hurting a lot people at the lights.
This is what it looked like prior to the install:
I have since purchased and installed the following:
AFR 165cc Heads, Vortech S-Trim with 8-9lbs of boost, Anderson PowerPipe and 1.72 rockers.
Here is a current picture of the engine bay.
Prior to the Anderson PowerPipe and 1.72 rockers install, I dyno'ed at
389 rwhp and 397 rwtq.....all this with a backyard tune from three gear heads...
With the Anderson PowerPipe and 1.72 rockers installed, I can guarantee you that I am well over 400+ in HP and TQ to the tires. The difference in both of these mods were definitely worth every penny. Go to my website to see everything...just keep in mind that this FMS Crate Motor comes with the " hyper-pathetic pistons ". Definitely get a tune!!
I plan on taking my ride to Mustang Magic here on Long Island and getting the Chip and Tune...I was told by the owner that I should be seeing 470+ rwhp and closer to 500 rwtq with the their tune. The only thing that worries me is not the pistons, but the block. My hotrod is a weekend warrior, so there is only approximately 11000 miles on the motor and 3500 miles on the Vortech...everything was purchased new and was broken in nicely.
I currently have the infamous Borg Warner T5 installed...once I blow it, I will be installed a T56.
I plan on purchasing the Factory Five Cobra kit car and will build the same drivetrain setup, as I know it works. I have not had any problems with this motor.
By the way...here is what my drivetrain sits in and powers:
Good luck on your build!!
