The top bolt is a bitch and special tools will help. A pile of extensions and a swivel socket is the easiest but not required.

I've also removed it from the top, arm right down beside the passenger side valve cover. Truth is it was my 15 year old son, who is tall and skinny who did it but by myself, I prefer the extensions from the front of the engine.

yea take long extension threw your header from the front and it will go straight on to the top bolt. make sure you get it on tight or it will loosen up on its own and will break the flange and then you will have to replace a good starter. ( i learned the hard way)

it was a b*tch to get it. Yes i know you dont believe me but i did change my own starter, Twice. Cause i didnt get the top bolt tight so it slipped off and i had to put it back on... I had nothing but a cheep a$$ walmart tool kit and zero mechanical skills. I attacked it from the bottom i couldnt fit my hands threw up top. Good luck!

I hope you are modifying the wiring properly for that mini starter.

+1, just pulled my starter out a couple days ago. got in from below and was quite easy. got the lower bolt with a ratchet and the upper with an open ended wrench.

a quarter drive ratchet, 6" extension and a 9/16 quarter drive socket for the top bolt. come from the bottom take u about 3 minutes once you get it started. definetely make sure you change that wiring for the mini because it should have a solenoid on it, so the wiring on the solenoid on your fender will need to change.
