What is the most possible horsepower you could make with a 5.0 running still on pump gas and all motor ? I always thought that would always be really fun to do instead of throwing on a power adder. Nothing against them but ya just dont see it alot.

With changing almost every part to high performance and doing every possible option, including forced induction, I'd sayyou'd hit 900+

That question is hard to answer because everyone's definition of "streetable" is very different. To me if it idles and makes it from point A to B it's streetable. Regardless if you have to throw race fuel in it to live. But for a daily driver I would think you could squeeze 400 to 420 horse N/A. It will idle a bit choppy and would require 91/93 octane but it's do-able. If you start talking stroked you could pick up a bit but you mentioned just 5.0. Fuel injected motors don't seem to produce the high HP peak numbers that carb'd motors can. With a 650 or 750 carb I would think your peak could approach 450 and be "streetable".

I know it's only a couple horse but cutting that h-pipe and exhaust off would free up some.

sounds about right. Im thinkingon the 450hp (real hp) side of things, and thats with a barely streetable idle and worked aftermarket heads and intake, along with everything else modified as well of course.</P>

So It would take like a 550" + camshaft, fully ported and polished cylinder heads, ported intake, 10.1 comp, etc

Mine's N/A 347, 10.75 to 1 compression. The heads are TEA ported highports (stage 2), TEA cut/ported/welded GT-40 intake, Cam is a FPS stage 3, lift is only .560. Has a nice lopey idle but idles great, never dies. So yeah 450 is quite possible. Just depends on how much you want to spend. You could actually make more "streetable" horsepower with a blower or nitrous for less money though. Just in the heads and intake I have almost $3000, the stroker kit was $2200, and spent $1700 at the machine shop. That doesnt include my exhaust or fuel injection pieces parts, got most of it off the Corral. For that amount you could have a very sweet blower, heads, intake, cam on a 5.0 and make more power for less.</P><edited><editID>br93lx</editID><editDate>37947.0027314815</editDate></edited>
