Running 185 AFR'S?

Im pretty sure that the e cam is not high enough in lift or in duration to have anyproblems but the 185s do use bigger valves. Its always smart when putting on new heads to check valve to piston clearance.

i think a lot of guys here will suggest upgrading your cam, too. im not all that knowledgeable, but from what ive researched, letter cams are pretty outdated. you'd get much better results with something more suited for that new set of heads you're thinking about installing.

The following was a case of a B-303 setup with AFR 185's.......
The issue with OEM style inline valve heads and 2.02" intake valves, is a loss of radial PtV clearance. If you want to avoid such a possibility + have a better performance gead design, a set of 170 or 190 fac's TW heads would provide more in terms of PtV clearance due to their relocated valves and different valve angles.

Ouch that wasn't good. I got your other message Joel5.0 I just haven't had time to sit down and write you back. I guess I might have to look at those TFS 170 or 190. Could I run the 190's. I just don't want a small head and have to buy another set later?Maybe some go fast spray. You know 306 now , maybe 408 next! When I get time I'm going to pull one of those gt 40's and see what kind of notch relief are in those TRW's. I remember they had a little bit but not full blown like I see on my buddy's ride.
