If I am understanding your post, you now have two solenoids in the circuit. Take the one on the fender out of the loop and try to just run the one on the starter. Hook the signal lead on the new starter up to where the old solenoid gets it signal. Put both main wires on the same post of the old solenoid. That effectively removes the old solenoid from the circuit. Now, with the signal wire activating the solenoid on the starter, it should crank. If it does, get a new wire from the battery to the starter and remover the old solenoid.

well its running again. im pretty pissed at what was holding me back. the jumper cables i was using for testing apparently went bad. i had just charged the battery yesterday and when i hooked the starter right to the battery via jumper cables the motor wouldnt crank over i was like WTF? ditched the jumper cables and just stuck the battery into the car and tried again. fired right up.......and damn it cranks over fast now with the starter powered right off the battery.
now just need to fix a tranny leak and ill be ready for racing next week. hoping to go 6.7
