Default how to tell if you have a spun bearing

how can you tell if you have a spun bearing. i hear something that sounds like a bolt in the bottom of my oil pan right near the back of the pan and the flywheel i drained my oil a few weeks ago and the oil looked metallic grey i thought i wiped my cam out. i changed the oil. today i drained my oil it looked black so i stuck a flexable magnet in my oil pan to see if it was a loose bolt in the pan but it didn't pick anything out of the pan.

the oil pressure is good. it seems like when you rev it up the knock gets lighter. the motor has less then a 1000 miles on it but it is the first one i built

If it is knocking its most likely to be a spun main bearing so I agree with above, pull it before it get worse

First pull the oil filter (You would be lucky if you had the old filter) cut the top off pull the element out and cut some of the paper out of it . Squeeze the paper in a vice to get the oil out of it . Check out the sparkles ,see if they are magnetic if they are not most likely a bearing. Also you can disconnect one spark plug at a time and see if the knock goes away . That will isolate it to one rod bearing
