92 Engine Wiring harness & 88 Dash harness compatability
I am swapping out the carburated 302 out of my 88 GT (the previous owner converted it from EFI to carb) for a 92 HO 5.0L w/ EFI. So Ive got the MAF sensor, wiring harness, and EEC (all out of a 92 5.0L) to go with the motor, so that shouldn't be a problem. My question is will i have to also replace my stock 88 main dash wiring harness to a later 92 model to get my stang running proper. Will I also have to replace any of the chassis wiring as well, or could I simply do some wiring splicing and re-pinning? Electrical work is definitely not my strong suit so any help on this matter would be appreciated.
Thx,
Tom

Odds are some of the plugs have changed between those model years. The best thing you can do is buy a set of wiring diagrams for each car. You can then compare them for each and every circuit you need to attach. For example, does the oil pressure sender wire match up with the 88 dash harness? With the diagram, you can easily find out. The diagrams will also list the colors of the wires making tracing the circuits much easier.
