.88 with little fluctuation is a lean number. it should be bouncing between .1 and .9 with no real steady number to point at.

check fuel pressure AND injector flow.

ok here you go ......

start the car and O2's will run at about .01 for 2 minutes then jump to .8 and fluctuate up and down the scale like it should......

here is the weird part.....i ran the KOER started the test within one minute of starting engine while O2's are reading .01 and i got codes 41 and 91(lean)

next ......i waited 2 minutes till the O2's started to read .8(fluctuating)to .1 up and down the spectrum like it should........i got code 45......no 41 and 91

WTF ........makes no sense or does it to you guys

how does the car run. are you having probs in performance or is it just the codes. the koer test should be run when you reach op temp. 45 is the thermactor air diverter circuit. try unplugging your neg term from your batt to see if it resets the cpu. you might not get any codes if all the probs you had are gone.

as far as how the car runs well it eats alot of gas (120 miles out of 12 galls) and the idle hangs once the car gets to operating temp.....when it is cold it idle right at about 900-850...when it is warm it idles at 1100 ..........rev the gas and it slowly comes down to 1500 sits there for a few and drops to 1000-1100 rpm as far as performance well when its cold it seems to run the best and slows down as it warms up it has 308's in the rear so i know it wont be a barn burner.........but when it is cold it pulls reall good......when it is at opp temp it seems to slow down

so could the code 45 be my egr vacum switch ........or could i actually have no problems with the car at all.......how can i determain if the computer is just bad or faulty.......why does it eat so much gas?

You are fixed with the EGR solenoid or the ECM.......

1. An EGR failure code causes the computer to delete the EGR function + you do not have any EGR failure codes showing therefore........ yup, the EGR system is fine.

2. Codes 41/91 showing in a KOER with the engine NOT at op temp (or HEGO's not hot enough)..... will cause codes 41/91 to show due to operator error.

3. The fact that once the engine is at op temp + HEGO's switching (at their op temp) = O2 or HEGO sensors are fine. 0 - .45 vdc = lean registered and .46 - 1 vdc = rich registered.

4. Code 45 = Secondary Air Upstream During Self Test (R) ..... or routing of thermactor (smog air pump) stream is incorrectly routed. Possible causes?..... thermactor diverter valve vacuum line switched with thermactor bypass valve vacuum line, or faulty diverter valve, or clogged system.

5. ECM, HEGO/O2 sensors and EGR components are fine..... based on the results shown.

Yes... it is correct.

You don't have A/F control codes showing however...... Code 45 = Secondary Air Upstream During Self Test (R)..... is a failure that could cause false readings by the O2's under driving conditions, and it needs to be corrected.

Suggestion....... don't try to look for faults where they don't show, you have a failure code that needs fixing........ do it for your benefit, but trying to work beyond the facts will eventually cause a big chunk of your wallet to be taken away. IOW...... concentrate in getting the elusive KOER code 11 (= system pass).
