Ignition Switch Help
Im trying to get my 90 mustang going, its been sitting for about 2 years. I got a new Interstate Mega-Tron battery, had an auto parts store check the starter and it was good. I purchased a new solenoid and installed it. The mustang doesn't start still and i can hear the solenoid making a clicking noise still. So i narrowed it down to my ignition switch. intalled ignition switch with the key in the 2 position checked make shure it was engaging correctly and went to connect batt terminals. I turned the key switch and there was no resistance when i turned over and then i saw something glowing by the steering column and my starter solenoid started smoking.$#!@ I know i shouldn't be messing with electrical but need the mustang to run. i eliminated the airpump/ac/installed new t5 #199/Aluminum Radiator and electric fans. I checked to see if motor turn with socket at crank, checks out fine. Can anyone help me out and or give me advise. Like is ignition switch/solenoid good or bad any other reasons that it wont start please help!!!!! im getting power like lights/windshield wipers/etc.... but doesnt turn the starter motor.

you'll have to disassemble the top portion of the column and switches removed to access. never done one but by looking at it I'm sure I could get to it...but really..lol 24 dollars for that piece??? f - that I got a complete column from a local guy for 40 bucks and no work to install such a part, just bolted it in and went

I was thinking the same thing of pulling one from the junk yard, but my only concern is how do i get the key cylinder out without the key? To remove it has to be in the on position and i dont want to force it. mayby drill. any suggestions
