Default V8 T5 WC to 4 Cyl T5 tranny swap Help

Got a T-5 WC tranny that's kicked the bucket. Had a guy tell me I could swap in a 4Cyl T-5 with a different pilot bearing and it would work and actually be stronger than my former V8 T5. Is this true and how easy would it be to do myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's what I would like to know. Trying to avoid being taken advantage of, that's why I'm asking for advice/knowledge I don't have on the matter.

Would like to know if I will run into any problems bolting a 4Cyl tranny to a 5.0. I've read that the 1st gear is shorter. What other differences will I experience?

Will it adequately handle the V8 motor?

it will if your not too hard on it. Most 4 banger t-5's will hold 240 torque while most V8's handle 265

I've seen one survive for a while behind a stock 5.0...but I wouldn't recommend any heavy powershifting with it.

I've only got basic top end mods (cold air intake, performer 5.0 manifold) and I don't powershift. Bought the car put a new motor in it and babied it till the tranny died after 200k miles. It was just the ole v8 T5's time. It became more or less my only vehicle after my old 83 F-150 died and got scrapped. I plan on continuing to take care of it responsibly. So this should keep it on the road if I take care of it?

it'll work OK in a daily driver; my friends coupe did fine for over a year until he started racing it...then it broke after 5 passes at the track.

no 1/4 mile blasts at Old Dominion raceway for you...lol
