You should check that cable for stretch to start with 1 more time if it checks out then you have a issue with the clutch ball stud or the fork and throwout bearing so you have to pull the transmission anyway. Check it out and you'll get it fixed

Not hard to change bearing retainer if you have the transmission out. just have to unbolt and then bolt new one in.

it's called preload and it's the shim that goes behing the race in the retainer, most just guess and transfer over he one in the stock set up, however I like to use a depth micrometer and do the math and select the proper shim from that, tremec's website has the instructions on how to properly do it.

finally got time to pull the tranny and my problem was just as i suspected...the pivot ball was backed out and on its last thread..needed new retainer and t.o. anyway .......

the shaft on the retainer was wore down all to hell , just like everyone says thats what will happen to the stock aluminium ones..
