Default New to Mustangs...Few Questions

Hey guys..I just traded my 95 turbo eclipse for a 95 Mustang GT Convertible 5.0 HO engine. The guy told me it had been slightly bored, has headers. cold air, 373 gears. So so far I love this car..I like it even more than my first car which was a 76 Chevelle with a 350 engine. Anyways I have a few questions. My oil pressure gauge always reads 3/4 of the way towards HIGH. It never goes any farther than 3/4th of the way to the right, still in the normal area tho. Is this where mustangs usually read? Or is it high? Also it seems like after 4000 rpm I lose power...My car stops gaining speed until I shift into another gear. Is this also normal or is it because of the gears? Another thing is I was looking into buying a bigger cam for the car. I had a 280 Xtreme energy cam in my chevelle which I absolutely loved. Is their any cam recommended for my mustang that has good power in the low to mid range but is still streetable. I dont intend on taking the car to the strip, just want to keep it my daily driver which a lil more pep and a more noticeable lope and power gain. Thx guys

at idle the gauge should drop and as you rev it up it should move , if it's always stuck in that posistion the sending unit may be bad, but while cruising on the highway mine reads roughly close to 1/2 or close to 3/4 gauge, and truth be told a cam swap in a stock heads/ intake 5.0 is a waste, it'll deliver sound but minimal if any performance notice, heads and intake swap should accompany a cam swap for the total effect

Is there anything else you need to do when changing a cam? I wanna get AFR head and 1.6 Roller Rockers and i wanna get the E303 Cam. Do i have to change out the stock cam bearings or can i use them?

Walk away from the letter cams. Put the alphabet down. Most on forum believe in something else.

theres nothing wrong with fms letter cams. e-cam has a great profile and works well with other stock parts

i like this tfs cam though too.

no , 4k is waaaay low. but maybe your tach is not correct. you should make power to about 5500, shifting at about 5200 is best

get an after market oil pressure gauge. personally i dont trust any of the stock gauges except for mph and fuel level.

the car should pull past 4000rpm, the gears should make it even easier on the motor to do so.
