I'm almost positive that it's going to be those bolts.

I had the same issues with mine when I first got it. Around 3000 to 4000 RPMS shifter shakes violently so I never got on it all the way. Pulled tranny cause throwout bearing was shot. Anyways when I pulled apart I noticed that whoever installed the tranny before me accidentally had the ground cable from firewall sandwiched between bellhousing and engine block keeping the two from mating flat like they're supposed to. Needless to say everything from flywheel back to trans needed repaired. Threw it back together and no more shifter shake. Might check that if nothing else fixes it.

My shifter shakes pretty badly at higher RPM's also...I have done clutch work recently though.

What could be wrong?

first of all, ragtop, i appreciate the advice but i checked my bolts and not only where they not loose, i couldnt tighten them at all. so thats not it. Kentucky5.0, i hope i dont have to go thru that like you did, my harmonic balancer has some of that ring coming out and when the engine is running i can visibly see it wobbling. i bought a new one today and plan on installing it over the week, after that im hoping all is well. i'll be sure to keep you all posted

I doubt the harmonic balancer is it. When mine had the strip showing the whole damn car was shaking, not just the shifter. Thought you do need to change it out before it comes off completely. Mine did. Thought the car was going to explode.

Well if I need to change it anyway I might as well hope it fixes the problem. Addermk2 suggested it and if history is any guide, when he reccomends something his answer is usually right. If it doesn't work I'll go from there lol

ever balanced a tire? the further away from the balance point that you move the weight, the worse the imbalance becomes.

Your balancer could have been much further spun than his is. It doesnt make it less of a problem though
