Clutch on backwards???
Well I just put in a new clutch, and transmission and today i got it all together in a bit of a rush and now it wont go into gear. I thought back and the only thing I can think I did wrong was put in the clutch backwards. The clutch goes in and out and I can put the car in gear and then start it, and itll go but I cant shift out whatever gear I had it in. I tried adjusting my clutch cable, and for a second it seemed my clutch worked, it shifted in and out gears but it was really rough, and i had to push the clutch super hard, then I adjusted the tension on the cable and it stopped shifting completely. does this sound like I have a backwards clutch?
ps- I know im an idiot for putting it in backwards, if your gonna make fun of me please include some helpful feed back too haha

I tried pulling the pedal it clicked, and tightened. but then I tried that again later it wouldn't click anymore. and its a king cobra clutch so would that have an effect on if it could actually be put in backwards?
I have an aftermarket cable adjuster on the firewire, would that have an effect?

86, will a factory cable not fit with a stock quadrant and a firewall adjuster? none of my stuff has ever been stock, so I don't know. sounds like he needs an adjustable cable and a good quadrant.

I had the same problem when i put my new clutch in. I just put the firewall adjuster all the way in, got a buddy to turn it and just sat in the car trying to put it in gear untill it would go smoothly. After looking at my old clutch i would have to agree with prime, putting it in backwords would be next to impossible.

nope, the clutch only goes in one way. and you only need to pull up on the pedal and click it every 5,000 miles I believe is the recommended interval
