Default roller rocker help needed

ok so i am trying to install my 1.6 pedestal roller rockers and i need some assistance.

now i am supposed to set the intake when it is closed and the exhaust open and vice versa correct? and when tightened to 18 ftlbs i should be able to slightly spin the roller but not jiggle the rocker? or does anyone know the gap that should be between the roller and the valve when the valve is closed? i have a bunch of shims but i was told its not a complete set and i am not sure of what sizes they are. ive just been kinda stacking them until they dont compress the spring.

also one of my lifters is squishy. i can push the push rod a little in. does this mean i need to replace the lifter or is it just not filled with oil?

here is a vid of what im talking about

thanx a lot

if they are adjustible just call ford or sumitt and ask them what the spacing is

*sigh* Hydraulic roller systems dont use lash....

Justin, if you still have my number, call me up later on today.

But its Exhaust, when the intake begins to close, and Intake when the exhaust begins to open
Adjust to zero lash, then 1/2 to 7/8 turn more, to attain torque

Have you already checked for proper valvetrain geometry with a pushrod length checker and solid lifter?

my 1.7's said:
both pushrods equal length, lowest they can be
torque 18-20
if under 1/4 turn to torque, push rod too long
if over one turn, shim.small shims are 1/2 turn, big shim 1 turn.
thats it. some say to torque 24 ft lbs but i don't think it matters.there is so little adjustment.just make sure you blow all the oil out of the holes before you torque. my 6.25 push rods were bang on.

i have not checked for proper pushrod length but the stock ones worked just fine with the normal rocker arms on the gt40x heads.. they seemed to bolt up pretty well.

ok so when i set them to 0 lash (no gap between roller and valve) i then turn it about 1/2 of a rotation and it should be at proper torque? so the valve spring will compress a little?

and i dont think i have your number in my new phone..

0 lash then as long it torques between 1/4 and 1 turn your good.

HOW 'BOUT PRIME THE OIL SYSTEM THEN SEE IF IT IS SQUISHY??...lifters bleed hydraulic pressure off, so prime and recheck

ya was def cuz there was no oil in them lol. i got it all buttoned up today and running well. i had to clearance the inside of the valve cover in a few spots but was no big deal.

now all i gotta do is finish installing the nitrous kit... , cut the holes in my hood out and mount up the drag radials to my extra wheels.

thanx everyone for your help!!
