my car had white smoke coming out of the exhaust at start up today. wasnt very cold outside, maybe 60 degrees or so. some other symptoms its been having are it gets really low on oil after about 2000 miles. the idles gotten rough kinda like its missing a beat, not a smooth flow, it sounds as if it cuts in and out. usually my charge indicator drops to between 12-13 when it gets worse. I checked the spark plugs and they were bright white, which i know mean lean. but at idle the car exhaust smells bad like if its just straight fuel. I did a compression test and it was fine. no codes at all. can someone point me in the right direction?

all of these symptoms could be related or unrelated. Sounds like valve guide seals if it is using oil, compression is fine, and it is blue smoke at start up. if it was white smoke it could be residual moisture in the exhaust or some kind of coolant issue. The driveability issue could be related if the amount of oil is bad enough to foul the plugs. or the MAF may just need cleaning. It's kind of hard to tell by plugs unless you know what to look for. The ring on the porcelain that indicates rich and lean is deep in the threads and can be hard to see. If you ever look in drag pits, a lot of the guys have a tool that cuts the threads off the plug so you can easily see the ring.
