I think you mean big block.

Long and short block are engine assembly terms
Short block is basically a block with a rotating assembly

Im only going to explain this because when i was 14 and got my first truck with a 351 i thought that long and short block were two totally different things. I felt very dumb when i found out the truth.

A shortblock it just the bottom end of a 302 motor. Block, crank, rods, pistons. A long block is simply a shortblock with heads on it.

Just be glad you asked this on an internet forum and not in person. You may get chuckled at.

ok brother here it is ignorance not stupidity, many people have thought this lol, a short block is a block with its internals nothing else, a long block is a block with internals and heads and camshaft installed cam ! there are no longer or shorter measurements on the blocks themselves!

Use a big hacksaw and take off the part that is too long.
